Welcome to the MC Photography/NLA-Entertainment web site. I've been shooting photographs since 1968 and professionally since 1975. You have probably noticed by now that if you hover your mouse pointer over each of the menu items above, you will see the description pop up. This is all done with CSS. You can grab the CSS that does this by taking a look at the page source. To view the galleries or other pages, just click the highlighted link like you normally would. My photography is explained in each of the hover links. Once in a while, I will have a random thought through my drunken haze that actually makes sense and I write it down for the "My latest thoughts" section. All of my journal / diary entries are at my blog page. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and I will provide a totally confusing and entirely too long reply. Thanks for stopping by!

For quite a while now, I've been thinking about this site, the latest generation of my photography life online.
If you've ever visited my alternative energy site,
northernmichigansolar.com
you know that photography, videography, entertainment, writing and
lifestyle are important elements of my life.
So, I decided that the latest generation of my
photography site should have a quickly loading front page because the
galleries will obviously take longer to load because of the images
involved. The galleries have over 250 of the 10,000 plus images in my
collections. My art is my photography. I already know I have the
"eye" for creating good photography. Hey, I've been doing it
since 1973.
I also seem to have a talent for creating entertaining video shorts (short movies).
While over the years I have been satisfied with just having my photographs viewed,
I feel that there is an opportunity on the internet for selling my work
as artwork or stock photography. Over the past year or so while I have been thinking about this, I have been searching for
other photographers who are online with an entertaining and informative site. I have found very few. In the internet
world of "content is king", the whole point is to entertain, inform and sell what you are good at.
One thing that people who I know (including my
family) and clients is that if I build it, they will come. I happen to be
very good at building content rich web sites. Trouble is clients often as
not resist this. They want a bare bones and don't want content. The ones
who do allow me free reign to use my photography and writing skills always
see a result pretty quick.
So, I am doing my own commercial site now,
designed to make money. For me. Thus, I am selling my work in
"packs", that is in groups of 3 or more images that can be
printed or used in brochures or web sites. Thanks for visiting and check
back for updates. |
PHOTOGRAPH SCANNING AND PRINTING TIPS You are probably here because you searched for photographs, purchasing photographs or possibly free photographs. Well, we have them all here. You can view our photos, download sample packs and purchase photographs. This article regards the purchase of our images. All of our scanning is done at the highest available PPI (pixels per inch) that our scanner - a Fujitsu F4340C (it is a pretty high end workgroup scanner with 3 CCDs for image scanning - more than what you probably need) - will produce which is saved as a high resolution TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) file. This is the Cadillac of image files and best for printing. The images that you purchase here come in two formats: TIFF for printing and JPG for using on a computer screen or web site. The JPG images have a visible watermark. The TIFF format images have a 1% watermark for security and copyright purposes. SCANNING VERSUS PRINTING PPI (pixels per inch) is the resolution of the image as it comes from the scanner. DPI (dots per inch) is the number of dots per square inch that your printer prints. The assumption that we make is that you will use a service like Shutterfly.com to produce your prints rather than your home printer. Your home printer will work just fine but you paid a pretty good sum for our photographs so you want the best possible print. Right? So now you know the reason why the photographs that you purchase here are so darn big. Not because big is better but we want you to have the most available choices for printing your purchased images.
